CST Studio Suite
The CST Studio Suite® is a comprehensive and highly advanced software package that assists in the design, analysis, and optimisation of electromagnetic (EM) components and systems.
The software’s large number of EM field solvers for applications across the EM spectrum can be used to for calculations in one single user interface. The EM simulation is suitable for classic quantities such as S parameters or farfield diagrams. It also makes elements visible which measuring devices have failed to detect. Visualising the EM fields through the use of simulation allows you to obtain comprehensive insight into the modes of operation and the interdependencies of the components and systems. The results can be used to effect further optimisation directly.
The modelling environment integrates with all common CAD formats. The combination of the parametric modeler, which includes complex geometric functions, and the robust connectivity methods means that simulation models may be developed in minutes.
Classic applications of the CST Studio Suite® include simulating and optimising individual components in high- and maximum-frequency segments (Microwaves and RF/Optical), analysing PCBs (EDA/Electronics), examining EM compatibility and interference (EMC/EMI) of systems and PCBs, and optimising electric motors or sensors (Statics/Low Frequency).
Simulating high- and maximum-frequency EM fields in antennas, filters, connectors, power splitters, medical devices, metamaterials, optical components, and photonic crystals has been the core competence of the CST Studio Suite® for more than 20 years. Whether you are looking to optimise an integrated antenna array for 5G or develop optical components for the next generation of data networks, the CST Studio Suite® will be your trusted companion.
Rising data rates, increasingly compact structures and the more complex layouts of modern PCBs have led to stricter requirements regarding signal integrity (SI) and power integrity (PI) simulation. The CST Studio Suite® includes a number of tools engineers can use to design, analyse and improve PCBs.
To facilitate fast analyses of voltage drops and power distribution network impedance, the CST Studio Suite® features dedicated PCB solvers that also can be used to optimise the placement of decoupling capacitators. The integrated rule checker for PCBs, CST BOARDCHECK, enables automated rule-based testing of PCBs for SI, PI, or EMV problems. PCB layouts can be converted directly into 3D models, thus allowing the use of full-wave EM solvers, even for complex layouts.
Leverage the CST Studio Suite® to reduce the cost and duration of the design cycle for your next work of art.
Electromagnetic compatibility (EMC) and electromagnetic interference (EMI) are two sides of the same coin.
For EMC compliance, the device being tested must not produce conducted or radiated emissions that can disrupt other devices; for EMI immunity, the device must be able to withstand expected loads caused by interference from nearby devices, environmental effects such as lightning strikes, or electromagnetic pulses (EMP).
To map these complex simulation scenarios, the full-wave solvers in the CST Studio Suite® are coupled with integrated circuit simulation. This enables the integration of any type of component model, for example in the form of SPICE or IBIS files, into transient EM/circuit co-simulations.
See the big picture and you will acknowledge instantly that, contrary to allegations, EMV/EMI is not black magic!
The CST Studio Suite® and OPERA have been used in particle accelerator facilities development since their earliest days.
Thanks to their large number of dedicated solvers for simulating magnetrons, electron tubes or components for ultrarelativistic particle accelerators, they deliver the research tools you need to discover the secrets of nature.
The solver range includes tracking solvers for calculating the trajectories of charged particles in static fields as well as PIC (particle-in-cell) solvers that take into account the entire interaction among particles and fields and is used to simulate klystrons and traveling wave tubes (TWT).
With the CST Studio Suite® and OPERA you have tools at your disposal that enable you to repaint the image of nature efficiently with a large assortment of colours.
The CST Studio Suite® and OPERA include dedicated modules for low-frequency, static, and quasi-static simulations.
The high voltages and large currents used in power transmission networks call for a robust design of devices such as transformers, switchgears, and insulators. The low-frequency solvers in the CST Studio Suite® and OPERA can calculate fields and current flows in these components.
The principle is this: You will know more once you can see fields! You can use the results in multiphysics simulations to calculate the heating effects of the current and the potential thermal expansion of the structure.
If you are looking to develop components dominated by magnetic fields, such as engines, generators, and actuators, the CST Studio Suite® and OPERA will provide you with dedicated solution modules for 3D and 2D simulations to assist you with the dimensioning and optimisation of your designs.
